Hoof Gauge

Did you know that 80% of all lameness problems come from incorrect shoeing?

The Journal of the American Veterinary Medicine Association reported that American horse owners lose $800 million in lameness problems every year. It has been well documented for centuries that incorrect hoof balance , improper angles of hoof, insufficient frog size and inadequate sole thickness are among the major causes of lameness.

Angles need to be between 50 – 55 degrees for front feet, matching pair and between 55 – 60 degrees for back feet, matching pair. By ordering our Hoof Gauge you can check the angles of your horse’s feet. By owning a Hoof Gauge and the Goode Equine Hoof Leveler, you own the best insurance you can ever buy for your horses, all for the price of an average farrier service.
